THE CONSULTANT now available on Kobo!

The Consultant is now available on Kobo, in addition to Amazon.

(I have plans to make it available on Google Play Books and Apple Books, as well.)

Now, this isn’t an anti-Amazon move, by any stretch of the imagination.

As a matter of fact, I still love Amazon, both as a writer and as a reader. (Amazon is scheduled to deliver some items to my house today, in fact!)

What is changing, though, are my plans regarding my all-encompassing participation in Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited program.

Kindle Unlimited, as many of you may know, is a program at Amazon that allows subscribers unlimited reading access in exchange for a monthly fee.

Subscription reading programs definitely have their place. This doesn’t mean that every aspect of every subscription reading program is positive.

The main limitation of Kindle Unlimited is its exclusivity requirement. What that means is: if a particular title is enrolled in Kindle Unlimited on Amazon, then it cannot be made available on any of the other retailers.

This is definitely a downside.

Moreover, I like what some of the other retailers are doing. Particularly the folks up at Kobo.

Kobo seems to be very serious about expanding its reach in the e-book market. In the past, Kobo has been a major player in Canada, where the company is based, in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. But not so much in the US.

That may be about to change!

Kobo recently made its subscription service, Kobo Plus, available in the United States. That could be a game changer, both for readers, as well as for authors and publishers.

I worked for a single large company for many years. Even if one behemoth corporation is bringing good things to market, a marketplace characterized by competition and multiple players is always best.

That’s why I’ve decided to branch out my distribution beyond Amazon!

Before I leave you, just a little bit about THE CONSULTANT.

The Consultant is a thriller novel about an ordinary American who is kidnapped and taken to North Korea for a specific purpose. The story is loosely based on some actual headlines.
